Guide to Site's Pages
Publishing

Soda Mountain is developing a line of postcards of the Sumpter area and slowly building its list or original titles. Some of the photos shown in the Sumpter Photos section of Contact Us are on our postcards. As for the books, unfortunately all publication dates are up in the air.

For the young visitor "The Sumpter Coloring Book" may include a comic and puzzle pages on historical Sumpter sites as well as coloring pages of sights and sites.  The book will probably be spiral-bound for easier use when traveling in the car.

Sumpter's First 150 Years will run from the town's 1862 founding up through its heyday at the end of the 19th century to the revitalization that brought the
Sumpter Valley Railroad and Sumpter Valley Dredge back to life to 2012's sesquicentennial celebratios. This will probably be a perfect-bound trade paperback.

There are people who think the state of Oregon stops at the Cascades, or maybe just east of Bend.  Some of those believe there are no wildflowers in eastern Oregon.  Wild Flora of Baker and Grant Counties will be an eye-opener for them.  The staff has been busy shooting wildflowers, shrubs, and trees, and so far right here within Sumpter's city limits out to less than 20 miles away. The first edition will still be missing several species, but that's what later editions are for: more additions. It seems the ideal format would be laminated heavy paper in a spiral-bound 5 by 7" book that can stand up to dust, rain, and repeated handling. Flowers--and weeds, those flowers that are in the wrong place according to someone--are to be grouped by color. Scarlet gilia, desert buckwheat, and showy penstemon are among our red-white-and-blue summer stars.

Pencil Puzzles for Gymnasts contains a variety of gymnastics-themed pencil puzzles: crossword (12), maze (2), word search (2), crisscross (3), logic (1), picture grid (5), sudoku (3), and others. The spiral-bound notebook size and style is designed for ease of use for the gymnast on the go, or just waiting for the meet to start. Below is a sample puzzle from the yet-to-be-finished Volume 1.
